No offense, (even though I know someone will get offended), but San Francisco residents are like frogs in a boiling pot as the saying goes. Move to the Flathead Valley in Montana already. I grew up in Woodside, attended law school at USF, moved to L.A. then back to Burlingame for two years. I went nuts when I couldn't get my kayak on Lake Tahoe without sitting in 8 hours of traffic. You can escape. One day I drove to Whitefish with my kayak on my Jeep and bought my house a block from the river three weeks later. Life is better here. No traffic, fresh air, elbow room, outdoor recreation everywhere, nice people and the ease of TELECOMMUTING from Montana should not be ignored. You’d be amazed how many millionaires have already relocated to Montana.

Instead of PG&E, a power company owned by private investors looking for profit over liability and accountability to the people dependent on them, In Montana, we have Flathead Electric which is a co-op owned by the people the company serves. We, the community, all vote on changes and share the responsibility and benefits of our services. I wouldn't go back to that squalor if you paid me. Sorry, but had to say that. On my walks with my dog I see more trees than people, and I'm more accustomed to the sound of ducks landing on the river than car alarms.

Try it out... just visit and heal. Then, I dare you not to come back to Montana to stay. $3700 a month (the median 1-Bedroom rent in San Francisco!) is a mortgage on waterfront property out here.
